A woman was invited to visit her neighbors next door who owned a German Shepherd dog. While the dog had never bitten anyone, it was known to bark aggressively whenever people came to or walked by the house. The dog was also known to jump up on people upon entry and it would sometimes snap at the mail coming in the mail slot in the door. As the woman waited by the front door for her neighbors, the dog began to bark loudly. The neighbors opened the door and invited the woman to step inside. The dog lunged through the open door and attacked, biting the woman and ripping an eight-inch gash in her leg. Through my representation, I was able to show that the dog owners were negligent in how they handled their dog and was able to negotiate a settlement which compensated her for the injury she received.
